Fertile Lands After Volcanic Eruptions

In Surah Yaseen, Allah mentions the miracle of bringing dead earth back to life:

“And a sign for them is the dead earth. We have brought it to life and brought forth from it grain, and from it they eat.” [36:33]

Although volcanic eruptions are often destructive, they can also make the land fertile and suitable for farming. For example, after the devastating eruption of Mount Etna, the land eventually became rich enough for growing vineyards and other plants. The Quran highlighted these natural processes long before science discovered them.

Day and Night

Surah Yaseen also explains the alternation of day and night:

“And a sign for them is the night. We remove from it [the light of] day, so they are [left] in darkness.” [36:37]

This verse shows how day and night exist simultaneously in different parts of the world, a fact now understood through the Earth’s rotation. Allah explained this knowledge in the Quran centuries ago, but modern science confirms it now.

The Movement of the Sun

The Quran also mentions the sun’s movement:

“And the sun runs [on course] toward its stopping point. That is the determination of the Exalted in Might, the Knowing.” [36:38]

Scientists now discovered that the sun moves within the galaxy, with what was already mentioned in Surah Yaseen’s chapter of the Holy Quran. It is another sign of Allah’s power and knowledge.

Phases of the Moon

The Quran describes the phases of the moon beautifully:

“And the moon, We have determined for it phases until it returns [appearing] like the old date stalk.” [36:39]

Moon helps us calculate Islamic months, such as Ramadan and Zil Hajj.  This knowledge, which is revealed in the Quran, guides Muslims in their religious practices like Fasting in Ramadan, Hajj in Zil Hajj and Eid Festivals on 1st Shawal and 10th Zil Hajj,  and connects us to the natural cycles of the moon.

Human Creation

Surah Yaseen also discusses human creation:

“Does man not see that We created him from a sperm drop? Then, at once, he is a clear adversary.” [36:77]

This verse of Surah Yasin shows how humans were created with a liquid drop. It describes the process from conception to birth, which modern science and embryology have confirmed. This demonstrates the divine wisdom in the Quran.

The Water Cycle

In another verse, Surah Yaseen highlights the water cycle:

“And We placed gardens of palm trees and grapevines therein and caused springs to gush forth therefrom.” [36:34]

This verse explains how water evaporates, forms clouds, and falls as rain, giving life to the earth. These processes were described in the Quran long before scientists understood them.

Lessons from the Titanic Ship

The Quran reminds us of Allah’s power over everything:

“And if We should, We could drown them; then no one responding to a cry would there be for them, nor would they be saved. Except as a mercy from Us and provision for a time.” [36:43-44]

This verse brings to mind the tragic sinking of the Titanic ship. Despite human confidence in its design, it sank because nothing can happen without Allah’s will. It shows us His ultimate control over everything.
